Young Citizens Academy
- Who Should Apply?
- 9th thru 12th grade students (4 slots for freshmen and sophomore students, 16 slots for juniors and seniors).
- Students who may be struggling academically.
- Students who may have some school attendance issues (borderline truant to truant).
- Students who have received an "N" in conduct or have been identified as needing to improve behavior and/ or decision making skills.
- Students who attend a high school that has not met the federal bench marks set by the No Child Left Behind statues.
- Teens who are willing to attend Fire Cadet training program 2 Saturdays per month and participate in special assignments (as reasonably requested).
- Teens who are interested in a career in fire prevention, community service, emergency services, etc.
- Teens who are willing to get academic support from a tutor.
- Teens who are willing to work with a mentor.
- Teens who would like to earn money as they learn skills for success (more information will be provided at the interview).
- Teens who want to participate in summer internship/ academic enrichment program
